Improve consumer financial literacy of Vietnamese residents

Home Credit officially held the press conference to introduce the 2nd Consumer financial literacy program “Think it through, sign it wisely”. This program which aims to enhance consumer financial literacy for Vietnamese people has been deployed by Home Credit since 2013.

This program which aims to enhance consumer financial literacy for Vietnamese people has been deployed by Home Credit since 2013. This year’s program has been held at wet markets and supermarkets in 6 cities and provinces, including Ca Mau, Can Tho, An Giang, Dak Lak, Hue and Danang during 2 months (August and September). Home Credit expect to attract more than 5,500 people attend in its consulting program.

Through on-site consulting activities and interactive finance management games, “Think it through, sign it wisely” program is designed to provide knowledge related to instalment loans to customers. As a leading financial company, Home Credit has been consistently showing its responsibilities as a lending organization to consumers through consulting and propagandizing activities to enhance consumer finance knowledge for residents. ““Think it through, sign it wisely”  is a large-scale program in the series of activities with an aim to help residents better understand point - of - sales loan types and access the trend of modern consumer shopping.

Also, Home Credit continues to cooperate with Vietnam Standards and Consumers Association (VINASTAS) to launch Consumer consulting handbook entitled “Think it through, sign it wisely”. Designed with simple images, this handbook provides readers with basic finance knowledge and notes before proceeding with loan procedures, terms and conditions to which customers need to pay attention before signing a contract, liabilities and duties of borrowers as well as lenders and common queries. With easily understandable words, lively illustrated images and reader-friendly presentation, this handbook is offered free to consumers in the hope that they can access modern shopping method. Over 8,000 handbooks have been introduced to consumers through shopping channels at markets, supermarkets, members of VINASTAS and shops in cooperation with Home Credit.

Besides customer charter, customer acknowledgement letter and cool-off program that we introduced last June, we’ve also invested a lot on improving consumer financial literacy of Vietnamese residents. “Think it through, sign it wisely”’s purpose is to provide customer basic knowledge about instalment loan. We encourage people to come to us and raise as many questions as possible before they decide to apply for a loan and signing a contract. This program was firstly implemented last year, is continue this year and will be organized in long-term run”.

“Think it through, sign it wisely” consumer financial literacy program was piloted in HCMC and Hanoi in 2013 and has been expanded to 6 cities and provinces in 2014. This program has attracted attention from local residents thanks to its practical meaning. “Think it through, sign it wisely” is expected to be conducted next years with a larger scale.
